Internet Document Management System
OPTIX lets you turn your mountain of paperwork into a molehill. It's an easy to use, off-the-shelf system that allows you to scan, store, and manage all of your documents electronically -- whether you have a hundred thousand, or a hundred million. OPTIX supports the latest storage technology -- including RAID, optical jukeboxes, and CD-ROM -- so storage space is unlimited.
OPTIX also supports the latest scanning technology. Whatever form your documents are in -- paper, microfilm, color slides, X-rays, engineering drawings, well logs -- you can scan them all into OPTIX. Once documents are scanned, you can index them any way you like -- even automatically -- and then retrieve any page of any document in a flash, like finding a needle in a haystack in seconds.
ADVANCE FEATURES
Manage All Your Files, Not Just Images -- OPTIX allows you to index, archive, manage, retrieve, and control all kinds of files, including word-processing files, spreadsheets, databases, and graphics.
Hyperlinks -- OPTIX allows you to link any document in your OPTIX database with any other. (You can even link OPTIX documents to sites on the World Wide Web.) Scripting -- OPTIX is scriptable on both Macintosh and Windows.
Annotations and Markup -- OPTIX lets you annotate and markup your images without changing the images themselves. You can draw lines and shapes on your images -- in color -- much the way you do when you highlight a paper document.
Support for both Windows and Macintosh -- OPTIX is the only industrial-strength document management system that is optimized for both Macintosh and Windows. Other systems tend to offer good software on one platform, and hand-me-down software on the other. But OPTIX software is designed to be the "best of the breed" on both platforms, because it has been written from the ground up to take advantage of the unique strengths of each. Both Macintosh and Windows users feel that OPTIX was written for them -- because it was. OPTIX for Windows has been engineered to make the most of Windows NT, Windows 95, and Windows 3.1. OPTIX for the Macintosh has been engineered to take advantage of the Power Macintosh (and other Macs), as well as the unique strengths of the Macintosh interface.
THE TECHNOLOGY
An OPTIX system can include Workflow, Document Imaging, Text Retrieval, Document Management and Control, Optical Storage, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), and Computer-Output-To Laser Disk (COLD). OPTIX is based on industry standards such as SQL databases, UNIX and NT servers and TCP/IP.
COMPUTER OUTPUT TO LASER DISK (COLD) "OPTIX COLD" is the first software that allows you to archive your mainframe documents in either ASCII or image format, so you can take advantage of the benefits of both. For example, ASCII documents use less storage space, but they require a proprietary viewer to properly format the ASCII data for display. Image documents use more storage, but they can be read by any standard TIFF viewer, distributed across a network, and archived and viewed in any document management system -- not just the system that created them. OPTIX COLD is the first software that lets you choose the storage method that works best for you.
