THE SKY IS FALLING

Sky is Falling is an 8-week multidisciplinary unit developed by the Educational Information and Resource Center in Sewell, New Jersey and Johnson Associates Systems. Student teams design and implement controlled science experiments to meet this simulated global challenge, and they have a blast applying math, social studies, language arts, and technology skills in the process. As the project unfolds, classes from around the United States (and sometimes other countries) represent nations from around the world and work cooperatively with each other via the internet in preparation for the comet's impact. SKY IS FALLING effectively integrates technology into the classroom curriculum and facilitates the formation of a learning community with no boundaries.

Wide Wonderful World of CYBERHUNT.

In this 4-week program, students use the internet to research a topic selected by their teacher, then create multimedia "CyberRiddles" with text, graphic, sound, and website reference clues on a designated website. Next, students attempt to solve the CyberRiddles posted by other classrooms from around the world, communicating with and learning about each other in the process. Students in grades 2-12 are motivated to learn with CYBERHUNT!

What is TEMC?

The Electronic Model Congress is a computer simulation for middle and high school students. Using a computer with Internet access and printer, students discover technology, citizenship, government, economics, business, and many other topics. Research, communication and organizational skills are used in practical applications throughout the simulation.

How does it work?
The TEMC classroom becomes a community of businesses that interact with a legislative office. As staff members of a media group, a polling organization, a special interest group, or an auditing company, students buy and sell services electronically to peers in schools across the United States. Using the TEMC website, they conduct business via e-mail, contracts, polls and other information that is sent and received daily. Auditors keep careful track of finances. The class also chooses two legislators and a bill to sponsor. The legislators find co-sponsorship for their bill in other "communities" in order to have their legislation placed on a final federal agenda.
