The Johnson Associates Systems Prosthetists evaluate, design, and fabricate prostheses (artical limbs). They work with those who have amputations due to accidents, congenital birth problems, or disabling diseases, restoring physiological function and/or cosmesis.

We understand that our patients may be fighting to overcome challenges ranging from the loss of a limb following a catastrophic event to the cumulative effects of a congenital disease like spina bifida. Our focus is helping them return to daily activities or recreational interests and to alleviating discomfort and pain, We do all we can to improve quality of life for every patient.

Our prosthetist communicates and interacts with physicians, allied health professionals, patients, and caregivers in various interdisciplinary clinical settings, rehabilitation medicine, orthopedics, neurosurgery, vascular care, podiatry, oncology, etc., as a subject matter expert to develop the orthotic and/or prosthetic treatment plan that is best for you.

They utilize and are well informed about new and emerging technologies in designing unique or innovative devices to accommodate or treat a wide range of complex medical conditions which may include  unusual problems or complications.

Our Orthotists and Prosthetists typically do the following:·

  • Evaluate and interview patients to determine  their needs.

  • Measure patients in order to design and fit medical devices.

  • Design orthopedic and prosthetic devices based on physicians' prescriptions.

  • Take a mold of the part of a patient’s body that will be fitted with a brace or artificial limb.

  • Select materials to be used for the orthotic or prosthetic device.

  • Fit, test, and adjust devices on patients

  • Instruct patients in how to use and care for their devices.

  • Repair or update prosthetic and orthotic devices.
